Happy birthday Birder’s Twitter! Our first episode aired on 31st July 2022 - so we are actually 1 year and a couple of weeks old.

Listen again to S3E10 here:

Guests across 50 episodes have included:

  • Toby Collett

  • David Steel

  • Marc Hughes

  • Steve Stansfield

  • Buckton Birder

  • Any Schwartz

  • Scott Reid

  • Jake Gearty

  • Brian McCloskey

  • Nick Moran

  • Dawn Erkshine

  • James Spencer

  • Simon Tonkin

  • Dame Dawn Balmer

  • Doc Collinson

  • Paul French

  • Jamie Dunning

  • Mark Golley

  • James Cutting

  • Andy Field

I should admit at this point that this is actually (at least) the 51st episode of Birders Twitter. As I’ve labelled two episodes of series 3 episode 4. Let’s just ignore that (and any further) administrative errors. Happy 50thish episode everyone!

If you do something long enough there is merit in it. In a way, we’ve won by attrition.

  • Jonny H’s fave Birder’s Twitter guests are: Amy Schwartz, David Steel and Mark Golley.

  • DDL’s fave Birder’s Twitter guests are; Dawn Balmer, Cliff (highs and lows of twitching) and Daniel Branch (not appropriate).

  • Jonny R’s fave guests to date are; Dawn Eskrine, Doc Collinson and Brian McCloskey.

Bird Watching Mag is sick AF this month. Defo. give it a sniff:

DDL’s fave episode is the Sand Sandgrouse one. Live from the UAE

Jonny H’s fave episode is when he couldn’t be heard by DDL.

Jonny H hasn’t seen Sabs at Pugneys:

We recap the last couple weeks bird news - semi-professionally.

All of Team Chough have tattoos - but mainly DDL.

Fort Tyron park is the business. Shout-out Alexandra and all NYC birders. Big birding NYC!

American Goldfinch are immense:

DDL found a Hobby and did a guided a walk in Vicky Park.

DDL went to Cross Ness to make sure it still smells and to look at a Little Grebe.

Jonny H had had a Wheatear and yellowy Willow Warbler and refuses to look at Marsh Harrier.

Jonny H reveals the secret of ‘secret migrants’ which are now no longer secret.

We make our predictions. There will be a Little Whimbrel. Possibly on North Uist. At 13:02 on Thursday DDL will find a Honey Buzzard.

Twitter Spaces is a terrible platform. When X finally implodes - we’ll do something better. Or probably nothing at all.

Our Emerald Isle correspondent closes the show, fresh of finding Irelands first Scopoli’s!!!

Best tweet of the year?

It’s worth listening to episode for Brian’s recent sea watching escapades alone. Fast forward to about 48 mins to listen.

Skimmers are the coolest thing ever. Including everything.

Listen again to S3E10 here:

We might do multiple episodes from Migfest. There’s nothing you can do about it.
