Red-eyed Vireo - St Agnes, Isles of Scilly - October 2023

It’s just us three this week. Jonny H, DDL and Jonny R. Listen again here:

Jonny R is fresh into sunny Suffolk having escaped Scilly, DDL is UAE side and Jonny H has just dropped the kids off at the pool.

DDL was in the middle of sex education before the call.

Jonny H has been vis-migging his face off. There’s been a huge movement of thrushes along the east coast:

Jonny R once found a Rouzel from the window of the Crown at Spurn. There might have been a Black-throated Thrush at Spurn?

We reminisce on Jonny R’s past birthdays including Siberian Accentor day. Jonny R is a gentleman birder. Immediate shout out to Scott aka @stmarys_patch

Happy birthday DDL’s Dad! Aka DDDL.

DDL has been tern-bothering in the UAE and ticking his face off. DDL is also delighted to have seen a PINTAIL*

Everyone wants Jonny R to do a Magpie Goose photo essay.

The Red-footed Booby is back! Just 24 hours after Jonny R left. Life is cruel. So cruel.

Jonny R had a lovely week on St Agnes. Post last week’s Birders Twitter we immediately saw Yellow-browed Warbler and enjoyed Red-eyed Vireo, Knot, Bar-wit and Marsh Harrier on Aggie.

An autumn trip to Scilly is also a mad seabird fest nowadays!

Friend of the show @Bucktonbirder is on a train covered in bird poo.

Everyone agrees that Birder’s Twitter is both informative and sensual.

We do predictions for the coming week - as is standard.

We’ve got UK250 Pin Badges for sale and check out our first product review - of the Kite Optics - image stabilised binoculars:
