Great Shearwater - Scillonian Crossing - 30th September

Penzance Youth Hostel is marginally more comfortable than a Nissan Quasquai and even provided breakfast.

Waiting for the Scillonian to leave we had an Arctic Tern in Mount Bay. The crossing was very quiet - until it wasn’t! A couple of Manx Shearwaters whet the appetite…

... then it kicked off in a meaningful manner. Initially, with passing Cory’s, then a super flock of Great Shears. We had two Sooty’s in the melee and a few dolphins for good measure. Overall, we were happy with proceedings. 10/10.

Cory's Shearwater - Scillonian Crossing - 30th September

It was helpful that to celebrate our arrival two Bobolink and a Rosefinch were laid on by Scilly legends and locals alike. A real red carpet event - just for us!

We then arrived on our second home of Agnes and indulged in a full-on wader fest. It was so righteous…
